Ms. Rahana Shakir

Assalamu Alaikum!

 

My name is Rahana Shakir, and I am excited to embark on this next chapter with the Ibn Sina school community. Born and raised in New York, I have dedicated over 20 years to the field of education. While my academic background began in the medical field, my love for education and a desire to be part of young children's learning experiences inspired me to transition fields and pursue a degree in education. Within the classroom, I am incredibly passionate about creating engaging hands-on, resource-rich environments for students.

 

My journey includes living overseas for more than two decades, where I ran the kindergarten department at an international school, a blessed experience that deeply shaped my approach to teaching. Over the past two years, I have also had the privilege of volunteering right here at Ibn Sina, which has allowed me to gain valuable experience and connect with our amazing students, their families, and school team.

 

I come from a large family of educators and am a proud mother of five. Al hamdulillah, my life and career are deeply rooted in my faith, a love for the Quran, the Sunnah, and strong Islamic values. Five years ago, I moved to North Carolina, where I have been blessed to become a member of the beautiful ICT community. Outside of my profession, I enjoy traveling, exploring unique foods,  taking long walks, and above all, spending quality time with my family.
