Ms. Rahana Shakir
Assalamu Alaikum,
My name is Rahana Shakir. Born and raised in New York, I have dedicated over 20 years to the field of education. While my academic background began in Medical Assisting, my deep love for education and a strong desire to be a part of young children's learning journeys pushed me to transition fields and pursue a degree in education, which Inshaa Allah I will complete soon. My journey includes living overseas for more than two decades, a blessed experience that Al hamdulillah deeply shaped my inclusive, adaptive approach to teaching. Over the past two years, I have also had the privilege of volunteering right here at Ibn Sina Islamic Academy, which has allowed me to gain even more experience and connect with our amazing students and school team.
Coming from a large family and being a proud mother of five, my life and career are deeply rooted by my faith, and I strive to walk a path guided by a love for the Quran, the Sunnah, and strong Islamic values. Five years ago, I made North Carolina my home, where I am currently pursuing a degree in education to further elevate my skills, build a strong foundation in modern educational philosophies, and deepen my understanding of students’ diverse learning needs. Outside of my studies and profession, I enjoy traveling, exploring unique foods, taking long walks, and, above all, spending quality time with my children. I am incredibly passionate about creating engaging, resource rich environments for students, and Inshaa Allah, I am excited to embark on this next chapter with the Ibn Sina Islamic Academy school community.
